Here’s a step-by-step tutorial for adding a new post in WordPress.
Step 1: Log in to WordPress Admin Panel
- Open your web browser and go to your WordPress Admin Panel page (e.g.,
yourwebsite.com/wp-admin
). - Enter your Username and Password, then click Log In.
Step 2: Add a New Post
- In the WordPress dashboard, go to Posts > Add New.
- The Editor will open, allowing you to create your post.
Step 3: Enter the Post Title and Content
- Title: In the text box at the top, enter your post title.
- Content: Below the title field, you’ll see a large text area for the post content.
- Type or paste your content here.
- Use the formatting toolbar to bold, italicize, add links, or create lists.
Step 4: Add a Featured Image
- On the right side, find the Featured Image section.
- Click Set Featured Image.
- Upload an image or select one from your Media Library.
- Click Set Featured Image to apply it.
Step 5: Assign the Post to a Category
- In the Categories box on the right, select an existing category or click Add New Category to create one.
- If adding a new category:
- Click Add New Category and enter the category name.
- Select a parent category (optional).
- Click Add New Category to save it.
- Check the category you want to assign the post to.
Step 6 (Optional): Add the New Category to the Primary Menu
If you created a new category, follow these steps to add it to the primary menu:
- Go to Appearance > Menus from the WordPress dashboard.
- Under Add menu items, click on the Categories tab.
- Find the newly created category and check the box next to it.
- Click Add to Menu.
- Drag and arrange the category where you want it in the menu structure.
- Click Save Menu to update your website’s navigation.
Step : Publish the Post
- Click Preview to check how your post looks before publishing.
